When is National BLT Sandwich Month? Always the month of April!
What is this Holiday for?
To honor and enjoy BLT sandwiches! Let this month be the month you remember the all time favorite sandwich made with bacon lettuce and tomato and serve it to your family. It's a great breakfast sandwich or lunch sandwich too. The most popular way is to have it on toasted bread or maybe you like it on soft white bread. Either way don't let this month pass you by without enjoying the flavor of a BLT! And then when you get tired of eating BLT all month long, try a new type of sandwich that you've never had before. You just may find a new favorite. Another great thing to do is try sandwich spreads too! A sandwich is not a sandwich unless it has a fantastic spread on each sides of the bread.
Origin of this Holiday:
Our research did not find the creator, or the origin of this day. This is referred to as a "National" day. However, we did not find any congressional records or presidential proclamations for this day. Even though, this is still a holiday to celebrate.

Definition of a BLT sandwich
"The BLT (Bacon, Lettuce & Tomato) is the second most popular sandwich in the United States. The sandwich traditionally has several strips of cooked bacon, leaves of lettuce (traditionally iceberg or romaine), and slices of tomato, between slices of bread (commonly toasted). Mayonnaise is the traditional condiment for the sandwich."
History of the BLT
"BLT sandwiches are believed to descend from tea sandwiches in the late Victorian era. Between 1930 and 1950, cookbooks typically listed cheese as an ingredient.
"The BLT became popular after World War II because of the rapid expansion of supermarkets that allowed for ingredients to be available year-round. The initials, representing "bacon, lettuce, tomato", likely began in the American restaurant industry as shorthand for the sandwich."
Distribution
"The BLT sandwich is sold at many restaurants, diners and fast food chains. The sandwich is also commonly made at home."
