- What Website Host do you use? We use Homestead. We like Homestead because it's fantastic for beginners who don't have a clue about building a website. We didn't know a thing about html code but if you use them as your host, you don't have to worry about that. Anybody can build a website using Homestead. Here's their link if you want to click on it to read what they have to offer.
- Did you really meet on the Internet and get married? Yes we really did. Stephen is from Australia and I'm from the United States. We met on ICQ, which is a chat program. We became best buddies immediately and never let a day pass without talking on the Internet. When its day here in America its night over there in Australia. But we always found ways to find each other and talk up a storm. We had talked for months when Stephen decided to use his 4 weeks of vacation that he had available and fly over to meet me. Well that's how it started. You can read more about it on the About Us page.
- Do you make money with your website? Yes we do! Absolutely! Our website didn't start out as a money making site at all. We built the site so we could have some fun and create a place to put all the things that we loved. Things like our recipes & games. It was just one of those things where one thing led to another and before ya know it.... we were making money with our website.
- Your site uses a lot of animals as characters...What animals have you had as pets? Cats-we have 7 of them right now, dogs, chickens, ginnies, gerbils (60 of them) ha ha ha, hamsters, fish of all types- salt water and fresh, turtles of all types, frogs of all types, Sugar Glider, Ginnie Pigs, Goats, pet squirrel, lizards, newts, salamanders, hermit crabs, possums. I loveeeeee animals!
- What is your favorite type of pet? Pam- Sugar Glider- but they take so much care and attention. They are just like a little baby that lives in your shirt. Yep, that's right! My little Meishka liked to take her naps in my bra. She went everywhere with me. Even grocery shopping and no one ever knew. Her favorite food was mango fruit. I really love frogs and turtles a lot too! Everywhere I go....if I see one...I want one. Stephen- His favorite pet was a dog. He never really had all the different critters before like I did.
- Your site has a lot of cooking pages... is this because you like to cook? Yes! We love it! Stephen and I both cook. Stephen loves to bake. If fact we probably have every kind of kitchen gadget that they make! heheheee-- We also loveeee to eat out and try new foods that we've never had. You see.... our website started out as a fun personal website. It was strictly a place where we kept all our favorite recipes and other stuff. Over time the recipe pages started gaining visitors more and more and more. That's when we decided to join a couple of cooking websites so we could put their links on our cooking pages. Why? Because we were getting so many visitors to the recipe pages, till we wanted a way to make some money with them.
- What is your favorite food? Pam- when I was a kid it was pizza. When I became older , and since I was raised in the south..it was pinto beans n' cornbread with pork chops and cabbage. yummie! As an older adult I like roast carrots and potatoes. But I have to say that nothing compares to a meal cooked on a grill! BBQ all the way! Stephen loves grill foods and Lobster Lobster Lobster! - What are your hobbies? Well....we both love eating a whole lot! ha ha ha! Stephen loves to play Golf and I love to craft anything I can get my hands on. Woodwork, painting, Christmas ornaments, it doesn't matter just as long as I can create. I think that's why I love working on the website here. It's as much fun as coloring in a coloring book with crayon's. No kiddingggg! I also love to surf the Internet! This is great fun for me too.
- What's your favorite color? (Pam) Well, Black is actually my favorite color. That's why most of our website pages are done in black. I wear black all the time too. I even got married in black & white. (wedding pics) Blue is nice too. As a young girl I liked purple. Stephen doesn't really have a favorite color but I find he is drowned to things that are Orange because he's always trying to pick out orange clothes to buy in the stores.
- Where do you live? We live in the United States - Panama City Florida and we absolutely love it here . (Pam) I was born and raised in Alabama and that's where we lived when we first married... but we recently moved to Florida. Stephen is from Tasmania Australia and he lived his whole life there until we met on the Internet and got married. We decided to settle here in American when we married.
- Do you have kids? Pam- none. Stephen has 2 kids from a previous marriage. One girl and one boy. Stephen is a proud Grandpaw now. His daughter just had the first grandchild. It was a boy. And yes this is both of our second marriages. :)
- Do you collect anything? (Pam) Yes I use to collect tea pots but I stopped when my collection started taking over the house. Then I changed to collecting coffee cups but they started taking over the house too! Now I just collect recipes. smileeeeee~ That keeps me out of trouble. hehehee - Stephen doesn't collect anything but junk mail. He absolutely loves to read junk news papers and advertisements like sales papers. Don't ask me why!!! He's the first one to the mailbox each day to see what kind of paper treasures it has brought him. They will be laying all over the house. ha ha ha
- Why is your website about food? Well its not just about food. It's about everything that I'm passionate about. I put animal mascots on my website pages because I love animals . I place a lot of my recipes inside the site because I've been collecting recipes for years and we both love to cook and eat. We put games and jokes in because we love to have a good time with life and want others to enjoy their time while there reading our site as well. It's important to us that our readers enjoy their stay. We want everyone to return back and visit us.
- Do you accept emails from strangers? Yes we do. We love getting letters from our readers and we welcome anyone to write us that want's to. We can't always answer the letters but if time permits we try our best to. :) If you would like to send us a note, click on our Feedback Form and tell us anything that you want. Plus, if you find any misss-spelled words or a link that's not working we would really appreciate a note to let us know so we can correct it.. Smileeeeeee. What can I say..... we are just average type people so we will have mistakes all throughout the website. We don't clam to be English pro's at all. The best part is....we don't have to be. We love our fun website and we just go with it. We fix the mistakes as we find them and as our readers are nice enough to tell us about incorrect spelling and we are very thankful for that. Now the bad sentence structures...... now that's a different story for sure!
- Where is your favorite place to go? Pam- to the beach, craft shows, outdoor festivals and old grave yards. Stephen- to the Golf Courseee! And to the Golf Courseee! And to the Golf Coursee again! We go to the Movies once a month and since we love to try new foods we like to go out and eat once a week, on our off day. We usually try and find a restaurant that we've never been to before. We do have our old faithful's though. We love to eat at "The Back Porch" and at "Lucky Snapper." You will find these restaurants on the Beach in Destin Florida. Hey! If you see us there..... come on over and say hi!
- What's your favorite drinks? Hummmmmm...... that's a hard one. Since I'm from the South..... I would say that cold Ice Tea is what I drink the most of. Stephen won't touch the stuff! But he loves to drink Hot Tea. We both drink coffee each and every day. Woooo hoooeewwwww give me a cappuccino with whip cream on top and I'm in heaven! Now if we are at an Italian Restaurant, I like a nice cold glass of wine. If we are on the beach taking in the sun then we both like a nice cold tropical drink of any kind. We are not big on alcohol at all. An occasional cocktail at special occasions and that will do it for us.
- Do you use any payment processors through your dealings with the Internet? Yes - It's a must for us. If your planning on being affiliated with any income opportunities, at least half of them will require that you have membership with the payment processor that they use. Many programs choose to pay you by way of the Internet instead of mailing you a pay check to your home. There are many different processors out there- but if you look to your left, you will see a list of a few of the one's that we are members with.
- How did you come up with the idea for your website? Ok, this one was easy. ;) Like I mentioned above, our website didn't start out as a business website at all. It started out as a place just so I could have fun creating my website pages- to be about and hold the information of all the things that I loved on the Internet. We were crazy about jokes, games and recipes etc. etc. So naturally I was putting my favorite jokes on my pages and recipes. Before I knew it..... I had over 200 pages of just my favorite stuff. Then I noticed that our site was starting to get a lot of visitors. As I started learning more and more about the Internet, the realization came to us that we needed to start making money through out website. We then had to decide what our Niche would be. What actually would our site be about? I loved everything on the site and I didn't want to have to take anything off just to fit in a new website theme. So my brain went to work and I thought....... now how can I have a site that has this many different subject matters??? All websites are about one particular thing usually and I loved everyyything. What was I to do? Well Slap! It hit me! My Site could be a Directory! Yeahhhhh! A Directory can have lots and lots of different things on it so that's what I focused on.
"An Entertainment Directory like No Other!"
- Then I started doing research. I started surfing and reading all the directories that I could find to see what they looked like. Well to my surprise, I found that most of them are stuffy, and just plain boring. I decided to put some snap in our Directory and make it fun and entertaining. I am happy to say that our Directory is the ONLY one of it's kind. And that's a fact! Being the only one of it's kind is a real plus for us too. smileeeeeeeee
- How did you come up with the name "Gone-ta-pott.com?" He hehe heheee! This is a truly a laugh I assure you. One day I was down at the river and me and my older brother Eddie was on the pier just talking away as he's dabbling in his fishing boat. The subject came up about life and how it sometimes is not always kind to us. My brother asked me..... so Pam what are you gonna do now. Jokingly I said.... oh I think I'm just going to build me a website. He said and what will you call this website of yourssss? I said.... hummmm , well I think I will just call it Gone-ta-pott.com since that seems the way life has gone for all of us right now. ### The both of us busted out laughing and sure enough...... that's exactly what I did. Our website has everything that's put in a pot, to food that's cooked in a pot, to everything that's grown in a pot........ (except that pot weed of courseeee) to funny gone-ta-pott stories. Now if you think about it...... it's a great name for an Entertainment Directory too!
- Is there anything about your site that people don't like? OHHH yessss! If fact we get opinionated emails every now and then about our Halloween pages. You see.... there are a lot of people out there that are against anything that has to do with Halloween and every once in a while I will get an email explaining to me how it's evil to celebrate it and how I shouldn't have Halloween pages on my site etc. etc. Well here's what I think about it. Halloween to me is just a great time of year to have some fun. I don't see it as evil at all and I'm not against those who do either. This is what makes the world go round and we are all different and we all believe in something different. You see.... Halloween has always been a big part in my life because I have always been involved in some type of Halloween event each and every year. Everything from helping with Halloween carnivals, to running cake walks, to being a goblin in spook houses, to baking cakes and cookies for concession stands (see our spooky recipes), to just helping plan festivals. Each and every one of these have been organizations like the Jc's or fire departments to churches.... yes I said churches; that have been making up money for good causes. But you don't have to be a volunteer to have a great time at Halloween. Why I'm 42 years old and I still dress up in costume! Why my hubby was even a cow this year (mooo) and he wore it to work. hehehehehee! When I was young I rolled yards with the rest of them and I still can't hardly wait to hear yard rolling stories. Anyway.... we will always have our Halloween pages because I just plain ohhh love Halloween. And not only that but our website is a Directory for goodness sake. You will always find Holiday pages in our site like Halloween, Easter, Christmas etc.
