World Environment Day (WED) is celebrated every year on 5th June to raise global awareness of the need to take positive environmental action. It is run by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).

• Arbor Day (New Zealand): Since 1977, New Zealand has celebrated Arbor Day on June 5, which is also World Environment Day, prior to then Arbor Day, in New Zealand, was celebrated on August 4 - which is rather late in the year for tree planting in New Zealand hence the date change.
• Constitution Day and Father's Day (Denmark): Constitution Day (Danish: Grundlovsdag), observed on June 5, commemorates the anniversary of the signing of the Danish constitution of 1849, which established Denmark as a constitutional monarchy, and honors the constitution of 1953, which was adopted on the same day. Almost all workplaces and shops are closed at noon on this particular day and political rallies and meetings are traditionally held.
• Indian Arrival Day (Suriname): Indian Arrival Day is a holiday celebrated on various days in the nations of the Caribbean and the island nation of Mauritius, usually commemorating the arrival of people from the Indian subcontinent to that nation as indentured labor brought by British colonial authorities and their agents. In Suriname it's celebrated on June 5.
• Liberation Day (Seychelles): Liberation Day is a day, often a public holiday, that marks the liberation of a place, similar to an independence day. Liberation marks the date of either a revolution, as in Cuba, the end of an opressive regime, as in Portugal, or the end of an occupation by another state, as in the Netherlands, thereby differing from independence in the meaning of secession from another country.
