Start out right by sending out invitations for your event that go with your theme. Try colorful balloon shaped invitations for an UP themed movie night, or use colorful card stock to construct light saber invitations for your Star Wars movie party.
Once your little guests are invited, it is time to set the scene for fun. Set up comfortable seating for the kids and decorate in keeping with your theme. You can use simple craft items and get your kids involved while making decorations. construct Truffula trees for your Lorax movie night, or decorate with balloons for an Up movie party.
Don't forget about lighting. The kids will need light if they need to get up to use the bathroom, and if you use lighting that goes with your theme, it can be a part of your decorations. Use paper lanterns for a Tangled movie night, for example.
No movie night is complete without snacks. Snacks can be as simple as popcorn in containers decorated to match your theme, or they can be more elaborate. Serve healthy baby carrots at a Hop movie party, or offer Peeps as a treat. Colorful cake pops make an excellent treat at a Lorax movie party since they can be made to look a lot like Truffula trees.
Be sure to plan some fun theme related activities to keep the kids busy while they wait for the movie to start. Set up a face painting booth. You can either do it yourself, or convince an artistic friend or family member to help out. Create balloon characters that go with your movie theme, like simple light sabers for a Star Wars movie night, or animals for a Madagascar party.
Crafts are another fun pre-movie activity. The kids will enjoy creating a fun craft and will have something to take home with them. Have your guests create paper flowers at your Horton Hears a Who event, simple light sabers using a material like a pool noodle at your Star Wars movie night, or set up a bunny craft at your Hop party.
Take the time and go the extra mile to create a complete themed kids movie night and it will be a special night the kids will remember.
