Be aware that a wild bird feeding party is a theme party. The theme is birds and feeding so you want your party to carry the bird theme throughout. This is not as hard as it may sound. You could start off by sending bird Invitations if you can find them. Send my mail or send for free over the Internet. 123greeting has some great Internet Invitations. If the party's for kids you could have the kids draw and color the bird invitations. Start looking for bird pattern, plant or nature pattern napkins, plates or tablecloths. You can usually find these if your going the disposable route. If your using real plates then the color green or blue always works for birds in the sky and nature. Another great ideas is serving bird them foods. We will talk more about that later in the article. If you have a bird pattern shirt you could wear that to acknowledge your the host. Believe me, your guest will appreciate the efforts you went to.
3) - Do Your Research on Bird Food
Bird food is food (often varieties of seeds) eaten by birds. Humans generally make or buy bird food to feed to pet birds or use in bird feeders. Bird food can be natural or commercial. The choice of what to use as bird food depends on the species of bird being fed.
• Black sunflower seeds are highly recommended for use in bird feeders because they attract a wide variety of birds, have a high ratio of meat to shell, and are high in fat content. Other common birdseeds include
• niger, or thistle seed, a favorite of goldfinches, • millet for sparrows
• juncos, and safflower for cardinals, among others.
Not all birds eat seeds. Suet (beef or mutton fat) is recommended for insect-eating birds like nuthatches and woodpeckers. Nectar (essentially sugar water) attracts hummingbirds. Bread and kitchen scraps are often fed to ducks and gulls. Chickens are commonly fed corn, wheat, barley, sorghum and milling by-products.
Note: If you've never fed birds before it's best to start feeding a couple of weeks before your party. You want to make sure the birds know where to find food so on the day of the party you will have an assortment of birds to watch when you put out the food.
4) - Party Food
All parties usually provide food but don't make it hard on yourself. The good
thing about a bird feeding party is you can get away with a lot when it comes
to food. Bird feeding is more low key so your not doing any yelling or
screaming. Why? Because your watching the birds and you don't want to
scare them away. You can get away with something as simple as bottled
water (because it may be a hot day outside) and trail mix to simulate food
for the Human birds. (all in fun) In fact.... put a note on each bag of trail mix
that says.... Food for the Human Birds.
Everybody crows about chicken wings (also known as buffalo wings) and what could be better at a bird party than chicken wings? Not only that; but chicken wings are one of the most popular finger foods served at parties so we though it would be a good suggestion for a bird party. Chicken wings are famous for their very own type of party too. Yep people all over the world have wing parties all the time. Flavors such as hot sauce, barbecue, honey mustard, teriyaki are just a few of the choices.
Cake or cupcakes? A great idea is the shape of the cake. The shape of a bird, bird house or bird nest with eggs are always popular. This is so much fun and the guests just love it. Bake it yourself or have a bakery do it for you. Do a search for Easter foods. I know that sounds crazy but all kinds of bird and chick themes can be found on Easter sites & you'll come across some neat recipes like "How To Make Chocolate Nests."
Now if your thinking about getting an early start on bird feeding then you may want to feed your guests breakfast. Keeping with the bird & egg theme; you could go with eggs in the basket which is also known as cowboy eggs or toad in the hole. Egg in the basket refers to a chicken's egg fried in a hole of a slice of bread. It is a common comfort food.
Games are not common but there's no rule that says you can't enjoy a game while inside eating or taking a bird watching break. Bird feeding usually take the lead when it comes to a wild bird feeding party but many hosts enjoy providing a bird food craft as well. The most popular being pinecones spread with peanut butter, then rolled in bird seeds. A favorite door prize to give away is a bird feeder or a bird book.
6) - Added Fun
Go on a nature walk and see how many bird feathers you can find. Try to figure out what type of bird the feather belongs to by comparing it to pictures in a bird book.

Tips:
• Don't grill on the grill for your party. The smoke will discourage the birds your trying to attract.
• Now if a table of food is to much work for you; then make it easy on yourself and go with something simple like coffee cake, pound cake, cookies with coffee, lemonade or iced tea. The main focus is about the birds anyway so it's a winner either way.
• Remember to check your weather and make sure there's no rain in the forecast. If you do have an unexpected rain in the middle of your party be sure to have a back up idea. You could read from a bird book or do bird crafts until the rain subsides.
