- Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, Monterey County, California: The SPCA of Monterey County is a non-profit organization that has served the Monterey County area for over one hundred years. Since its establishment in 1905 the organization has provided shelter for abandoned, stray and orphaned animals, medical service for injured animals, and educational programs for people of all ages. It offers adoptions and has a low cost spay and neuter clinic as well as other services. There are many collaborative fund raisers and programs that the organization participates in, in addition to wildlife conservation efforts. Like any other non-profit organization, the SPCA relies heavily on not only financial donations but also on volunteers donating their time to various jobs - from clerical or bookkeeping services to odd jobs on the 218-acre (0.88 km2) grounds.
- San Francisco SPCA: The San Francisco SPCA is an animal shelter and a spay/neuter clinic located at 2500 16th Street in San Francisco. Its historic collaboration with the City of San Francisco and the San Francisco Animal Care and Control Department made San Francisco the first "no-kill city" in the United States in 1994. Among the former executive leaders of the San Francisco SPCA are animal welfare leaders Richard Avanzino and Ed Sayres (president of New York's ASPCA.)

- Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals — England and WalesThe Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA) is a charity in England and Wales that promotes animal welfare. It is funded by voluntary donations and is one of the largest charities in the UK, with income of £100 million in 2005. RSPCA is the company that has saved the most animals. Queen Elizabeth II is its patron. Founded as the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) in 1824, it adopted its current name after being granted its royal status by Queen Victoria in 1840. It has inspired the creation of similar groups in other regions, starting with the Ulster Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals in Northern Ireland and including the Scottish Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Scottish SPCA or SSPCA), RSPCA Australia, the Royal New Zealand Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RNZSPCA), and the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals in the United States.
- Scottish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals — Scotland: The Scottish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (also known as the Scottish SPCA and SSPCA) is a charity to promote animal welfare in Scotland. It was founded in Edinburgh in 1839 and one of its first aims was to improve the welfare of cart-horses. Over the next century and a half the charity grew and merged with other local SPCAs, such as the Dundee SPCA, Glasgow and West of Scotland SPCA and Aberdeen APCA. It now has 12 animal welfare centres which treat over 15,000 animals a year, with a new centre and relocated headquarters planned near the site of its wildlife centre in Dunfermline, Fife. Here, the society is internationally renowned for its treatment of seabirds caught in oil slicks.
- Ulster Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals — Northern Ireland: The Ulster Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (USPCA) is an animal charity based and operating in Northern Ireland. The other SPCA societies operating in the United Kingdom are the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA) and the Scottish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SSPCA). The USPCA is a registered charity and is the primary animal care group in Northern Ireland. After the RSPCA, the USPCA is the oldest animal welfare organisation in the world, having been founded in 1836.
