April showers is a term that denotes spring rains--
"in some parts of the northern hemisphere, in particular the UK, during the Gregorian or Julian month of April. One of the major reasons for the, often, very heavy showers and downpours that characterise April is the position of the jet stream. In early spring the jet stream starts to move northwards allowing large depressions to bring strong winds and rain in from the Atlantic and in one day the weather can change from springtime sunshine to winter sleet and snow. The track of these depressions can often be across Ireland and Scotland bringing bands of rain followed by heavy showers (often of hail or snow) and strong blustery winds. So in one day the weather can change from springtime sunshine to winter sleet and snow."

Rain is liquid precipitation
"On Earth, it is the condensation of atmospheric water vapor into drops heavy enough to fall, often making it to the surface. Rain is the primary source of fresh water for most areas of the world, providing suitable conditions for diverse ecosystems, as well as water for hydroelectric power plants and crop irrigation."
