What is this holiday about?
This holiday is about being thankful for a roof over our heads I guess!
Yes being dry and cozy protected from elements of wind, rain and snow is pretty nice in deed. On this unusual holiday I guess we could learn about the different roof structures around the world. Thatch, straw, shingles, slate, hardwood, cedar, cement, metal or fabrick, it doesn't matter- we love them all.
What are we suposed to do on this holiday?
Heck if we know! Research says its a holiday but I'll be dang if we could find out the reason why. How do we celebrate this holiday is the big question. Maybe we are suposed to learn how to build a roof or shelter on this day. Come to think of it, it does sound like a really good way to have some camping fun to me.

Origin of this Holiday
Our research did not find the creator, or the origin of this day.
This holiday is referred to as a "National" day. However, we did not find any congressional records or presidential proclamations for this day. Even though we didn't, this is still a holiday that is publicized to celebrate.
So have fun with it and celebrate it!

A roof is the covering on the uppermost part of a building. A roof protects the building and its contents from the effects of weather. Structures that require roofs range from a letter box to a cathedral or stadium, dwellings being the most numerous.
In most countries a roof protects primarily against rain. Depending upon the nature of the building, the roof may also protect against heat, against sunlight, against cold and against wind. Other types of structure, for example, a garden conservatory, might use roofing that protects against cold, wind and rain but admits light. A verandah may be roofed with material that protects against sunlight but admits the other elements.
The characteristics of a roof are dependent upon the purpose of the building that it covers, the available roofing materials and the local traditions of construction and wider concepts of architectural design and practice and may also be governed by local or national legislation.
