What is this holiday about?
Well it's all about Santa's List of course!
The only thing were not sure about is which of Santa's list is it referring to? Many references seem to point to the "Naughty or Nice" list which is the list of names of all the children all over the world that have been naught or nice for the year. As we all know, the nice are the ones who receive gifts from Santa.
Other references point to Santa's List of gifts.
So on this holiday think about both lists and remember what they each mean to you during this holiday season.

Origin of this Holiday
Our research did not find the creator, or the origin of this day.
This holiday is referred to as a "National" day. However, we did not find any congressional records or presidential proclamations for this day. Even though we didn't, this is still a holiday that is publicized to celebrate.
So have fun with it and celebrate it!
We suspect that Santa Clause himself is responsible for this holiday.
We think that this is the first day that Santa checks his lists at the north pole that relate to toys and the naughty and nice list.

Santa Clause makes a list of children throughout the world, categorizing them according to their behavior; that he delivers presents, including toys, candy, and other presents to all of the good boys and girls in the world, and sometimes coal or sticks to the naughty children, in one night; and that he accomplishes this feat with the aid of magical elves who make the toys, and eight or nine flying reindeer who pull his sleigh.
